[glow=teal,2,300] -An old, half blinded femmora, a tad short of full stature, tail and head bowed to ground, shuffles in slowly, half tumbling into a small cavern. she lays flat, ribs showing and scraggly plume laying limp behind her. her long, shaggy coat keeps her hot and panting, and the cold surface of the stone cools her somewhat. her dimmed eyes stare out into the open, silver rimmed mouth open in a crooked smile of joy. there were bound to be pups in this pack, and she dearly wanted to meet them-[/glow]

[couldn't help it ] -A grungy looking female nineca wanders around. Her fur usually would have a healthy gleam to it, an obsidian pelt with strange goldish markings on them, among those a golden bandit mask- like that of a raccoon- and a few strange tail rips- like that of a lemur. Normally her eyes would be soft, not glittering like they used to, but still beautiful, even if edgy and jumpy. Now her pelt was a scraggly looking off black, almost dark gray hue with ligher gold markings, instead of the healthy deep colors. Her eyes were the same shade but they were a bit more wild looking- a bit more desprete. It had been about a day and a half since Crystal had given birth to the twin cubs, but already she needed more food. She had ravenously taken in all Charles could find and she needed to go out on her own and take something down, even if only something small. It would hold her until Charles could find something big. But until then she would have to find something and she was trying to go as fast as she could without making too much sound, she wanted to get back to the twins. She missed them already. She accidentily comes into the sight range of the old wolf but immidiatly ducks down, hoping she wasn't seen. She didn't recognize the old one but as old as the wolfess she faced was, she was tired, and ached with the everlasting pains of childbirth- the pains that would last weeks until she got a good sleep. The magic runs through her veins, pounding in the face of possible danger but she pushes it back. She was in no position to be attacking or defending with such a thing- it meerly wasted energy. She keeps low to the ground, trying to blend in with the shrubery-

[glow=teal,2,300] -Old Maid was not born yesterday. even without her vision, she could still sense the presence of another wolf. Being old not only made you wise, it strengthened your senses, with the exception of sight. Mama called out hoarsely, though not ungently, into the shrubbery, not moving from where she lay- Where you headed, Dearie? Why are you hiding?[/glow]

-The words replay through her head. 'Dearie?' how old was this wolfess exactly? She continues to stay silent, unknowing if this female was friend or foe. She would not just give her position away. Naturally, the ever-present feeling of need for solitude once pups were born was pushing her to stay silent along with common sense. She crouches lower, and slowly moves backwards trying to leave, but knowing she cannot-

-Mama's old nose catches scent of milk on the mother's fur- Pups? -she becomes excited- you have puppies, m'dear? You seem awfully young. -she now stands, joints and ligaments popping with the sudden movement.-

-Finding hiding now hopeless- the old wolf had probably pinpointed her very location down by now with all the rustling she had been making- she stands, but stays near the forest, ready to dart back in. Shadowlanders did not care for pups. She must not be too threatening- I'm one -She says, a bit of difiance rising in her voice- a bit of defiance which hadn't been there in her entire stay in the lands. Her eyes seem to flash once more- I'm not too young apparently. -She repeats, holding her head higher, in a regal fashion-

-Mama's old, cracked but kind voice tries to penetrate the defiance- oh, hunny, there's nothing wrong with that either. no reason to get angry. -her blinded eye staring straight ahead at nothing and her cloudy grey one pinpointing Crystal, she began walking softly and with some difficulty near-

-Obvious discomfort shows in her face as she paws nervously at the ground, backing up slowly, inch by inch. It would be useless to run, the old wolf would find her scent and track her back to her den, and then she would be able to do whatever she wanted with the Twins. But staying seemed too risky to her, she had grown used to solitude, meerly caring for her children alone. All this happening was frightening her, she had gone from alone to with company so fast and she still hadn't summed up Mama completly- They are hybrirds, what are they to you? -She says, trying to get the old wofess to leave. Most wolves and nineca hated hybrids, especially from completly different species, such as humans and elves. Most cross-species children are extreamly strong and powerful, most fear them and wish to have nothing to do with them-

Oh my! -Mama exclaims- I bet they are darlings! I caught a peek at a hybrid a few days ago...all golden coloured, curled tail. She was so beautiful. -she comes back to the present time- -her eyes are affectionate, warm and all-loving- All puppies are angels, no matter what others may think. Too many times I have seen a young one scorned because of what they were, not who they were. Why, there isn't a wolf today that isn't a hybrid! The Maned wolf, the Mexican Wolf, Red wolf, and the Timber wolf. Even the mighty Gray Wolf is a crossbreed. -she looks right into Crystal's eyes- Am I intruding upon you, dearie? I shall leave you be and return to that cave if you wish it. -she speaks the words, but it is evident in her voice that she longs for company, and believes that this new-mother wanted company as well, deep inside.-

-Half of her mind seems to be screaming out- yes. leave. go now, while you have the chance. That, of course, being the maternal side. But the other side was the side of youth. The side that didn't want to be burdened with children at such a young age. Especially to a man whose name she didn't even know. Cursing human's mentally- ugly brutes- she stares at the old wolfess, her eyes showing inner turmoil. The two sides inside her battle for controll of her words. To go back to solitude, which the mother part of her so dearly wanted- needed. Or to let the old caring wolfess join her, and do as the real Crystal would- A boy and a girl. And yes. They are. -She says, turning, making obvious noise. She does not address Mama's thoughts about her intruding. As she starts clumping through the woods again, she lets the old wolfess believe what she wants. She may follow, she may leave, both would be fine-

-Mama's emotions took over. All she wanted was someone to care for. Without hesitation she began plodding along behind Crystal, a bit slowly. She stumbles upon a pebble, falling to the ground with a thud. Shakily she stands again, and continues to follow Crystal, panting already-
